The Independence Day Party yesterday was not well planned
and organized, but it was such a great celebration full of life and
energy. So many outside guests came –
family of the kids, other pastors, what looked to be school friends of the
kids. In a way, it’s like life is
returning to the home.
My mind does cast a glancing worry at what mischievous kids
could’ve snuck away and done in all the chaos.
But my visit home to Colorado really did wonders for my heart to realize
that I don’t have to try to control every situation, to trust that things not
going just the way I think they should is OK.
It’s very nice.
This morning I ended up just sitting completely still for
over an hour. Must’ve been what I needed
to recharge my introvert batteries after the three-hour madness of last
night. But then I got to reading the key
scriptures in the next chapter of The Newness Advantage by Graham
Cooke. Once again just that deeply moved
my heart and already opened my mind to new things.
I wish I had time to write about each one, but for now I
will say that I’m left realizing that any measure of faith and abilities I have
is by the grace of God. And if anyone
has more or less than me, that is by His divine wisdom. I also am impacted by Paul delighting in
hardships and struggles because when he is weak God is strong. When I feel insufficient in this place, as I
often do, I can rest easy remembering that that is a-ok because God is
abundantly sufficient.
